I can’t thank VLT Athlete enough for all the help they have provided me over the last 5 months. I came to them 3 months before my wedding so I could make sure I looked my absolute best. Maddie and Chris made sure to provide workouts that focused on the areas I needed help with most. My back and arms were my biggest issue because of the style of my dress. On my wedding day I truly felt the best and I know I wouldn’t have gotten there without their help. 
After my initial 12 weeks were up, I knew I had to hire them full time. 
I struggled a lot in the nutrition area, always craving sweets and never fully feeling satisfied. I couldn’t understand why. I was drinking Diet Pepsi because it had no calories, I was reading labels and finding foods that had low calories, but what I didn’t realize was that all those fake sugars and chemicals were feeding the desire to consume more and more sweets. Maddie asked me to log all my foods for a week and then we could dig into the reasons why I was feeling this way. A week later she realized just how much processed foods and fake sugars I was consuming and it was no wonder I wasn’t satisfied and craved more and more sweets. 
She had me go 2 weeks with eating a whole foods, clean diet before even asking me to log food again. It was the best thing I could’ve ever done for my body. Now I eat a mostly whole food/clean diet and I feel great. I sleep better, I have way more energy, focus better, and just all around feel wonderful.
Now that I’m feeling better and I’m fueling my body with good nutritional foods, I’m able to focus on my next goal. Completing my first triathlon and I hope to one day complete an Ironman. I know with having Maddie and Chris by my side, I’ll be able to do both.

Working with Maddie had such a big impact on my fitness journey. She was very attentive to how the programming she built worked with my goals, lifestyle, and travel schedule. I really looked forward to catching up with her on how the workouts were going, what was hard/easy, and smart ways to get closer to my macros. The biggest impact for me was how excited and motivated I felt every day to get my workouts in + the way she encouraged me to give myself grace and take a break when I needed it. I was very impressed by how supported I felt even through a virtual setting. It actually worked even better for me because it gave me the flexibility to choose timing that worked best for me. Highly recommend working with VLT regardless of where you are in your health journey!

Three (3) reasons you should avoid VLT Athlete (Joking you need to sign up now!) :

You’ll learn easy nutrition rules.  Once you’re informed, you’ll know when you are making food choices that might impede your progress…you can’t claim ignorance any longer. 

You’ll have a team that actually cares about your progress.  This means you can’t skate by putting in partial effort, they will know. 

You’ll have workouts in front of you. Whether you workout in a gym or at home, you’ll know what needs to be done. No more wondering if you are doing the right thing for your body, no more searching the internet for the latest fad, no more buying books.  

Just imagine all the free time you’ll have, how terrible.

After being diagnosed with Type II Diabetes I decided to start working with VLT athlete to turn my life around. I started VLT in February and have since lost 55lbs and I'm off all of my medication thanks to the help of Maddie and Chris. I was at first nervous being that I'm in my 50s and I wasn't sure if I would be a relatable client, but I was quickly proved wrong. Maddie and Chris are fantastic coaches regardless of your age / experience! 

Since working with them I now play pickle-ball 6-days a week and just got accepted into a local league! I have been following their beginner Pickle Ball Strength program and it has been awesome! No more guessing what I need to do when I walk into the gym and It's getting me stronger and faster on the court.

I can't say enough great things about my experience with VLT. I highly recommend their programs and coaches to anyone!

Working with VLT the past few months has been life changing to say the least. There is something so special about working with coaches who genuinely care about you as an individual that makes you want to work hard. Not only for yourself, but for them as well. One of my biggest fears when I started working with VLT was that training was going to start feeling like a job and I would get burnt out. I've had the complete opposite experience! It's fun, challenging, manageable and soooo rewarding. I get excited at the start of every week to look over my program and see what's in store for me and can't wait to get into the gym each day. My biggest takeaway from working with Maddie is the confidence shes given me not only as an athlete, but also in my everyday life. Yes, they are my coaches, but they also feel like my #1 fans and that really makes a difference.

I had the pleasure of training with Chris and Maddie these past six months, and I can confidently say they have been the best coaches and basically part-time therapist that I’ve ever worked with. They not only designed a workout routine that was challenging and effective, but also helped me with a personalized nutrition plan that made a huge difference in my progress. MADDIE SHOCKELY / Certified Strength & Conditioning + Nutrition Specialist

Hi, I'm Maddie, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist passionate about working with driven individuals. I studied Exercise Science in college as a dual Division 1 athlete in soccer and lacrosse at Long Island University. In my experience as an athlete and coach, I have found that the key to high performance isn't just exercise and nutrition prescription alone. Developing and cultivating a strong support system and mindset is the foundation of success. I've worked in the fitness industry for six years in both a 1:1 and group class setting. My biggest issue with the industry is its inability to reach broader populations and promote healthier lifestyles due to the high cost of entry. I co-founded VLT Athlete to provide an all-encompassing fitness and nutrition program at an affordable price. My goal is to change as many people's lives as possible without the financial stress that usually comes with investment in health and wellness.

Chris Gosik / Certified Wellness Coach

Hi, im Chris. Growing up a multi-sport athlete (baseball, ice hockey and football), I was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies out of high school and played D1 baseball at East Carolina University. Aftering being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2013 upon graduating college, I struggled with the disease for years. After years of countless doctor visits, testing, medications and steroids, I was able to transform my life through nutrition and fitness. During my 10 years as a consultant in the Enterprise Technology industry, I grew passionate about helping others transform their lives. This led me to leave the technology industry and co-found VLT Athlete, where I get to work with others who are also navigating their own health journey. I am passionate about educating others on the importance of nutrition and fitness and hope to inspire as many people as I can to transform their lives for the better, just as I did.
